Twine: a tool for creating interactive stories →
afewnovelideas:
Was looking for software specifically to help me in writing a hypertext story that I’ve had in the works for the better part of a year. Found this today. It’s a free program called Twine. I haven’t tried it out yet, since I’m still at work and can’t install it on this computer. However, as soon as I get home, once my daughters are asleep and if my husband will be preoccupied...

Original Flash Fiction: With Regret, Without...
Excerpt:
When she buried her face in her hands, looking small, weak, wounded, and vulnerable, I felt a reflexive desire to apologize and comfort her. I loved her, after all, and had never meant to hurt her.
There was just one problem…
“I will never forgive you!”
Her eyes blazed with an unrestrained fury. Even in her weakened state, she radiated a menacing aura from her hospital bed....
Update
I feel that I need to offer apologies to those of you waiting for fic requests from over the weekend.
I’ve had some real-life financial issues practically explode in my face this week, and I’ve been scrambling around in perpetual damage control mode to try and make ends meet. Even though I got paid today and the money is in the bank, I’m still not even sure if I’ll have...
I got an idea for an original short story. A germ of an idea, really.
It’s about a vampiric mermaid who preys on lonely women.
However, instead of having a fish tail, she’s got octopus tentacles for the lower half of her body. Her markings are like that of the poisonous blue ring octopus.
I got several submissions from my prompt request. I’ll be working on them over the next few days. (RL suddenly got busy so I’ll be spreading them out over the next couple of days.)
Thank you everyone who sent stuff in.

Fic Prompt Request
Hello!
So, I don’t know if you’ve seen any of the sneak peaks for the coming White Collar episode, but they mention a nine-year-old Neal stopping by a pool hall on his way home from school in St. Louis. It sounds like he was already a hustler at that age. You could maybe do a small something about this if it tickles your fancy?
I also just have to mention that you are hands...

Writer's Block a Myth? →
Today, on my WordPress blog, I posted up a link to an article I shared here on Tumblr weeks ago, regarding ten forms of writer’s block and how to combat them
(A wonderful article I found on io9.com, btw. I suggest everyone read it.)
Anyways, one of the comments I got on my blog was from a guy who’d written an article last December calling writer’s block a “myth”.

Polishing up my WordPress writing blog... Getting...
I’ve been working on a new version of my writing blog at WordPress.com. Fear not, I’m not abandoning Tumblr. I just wanted a separate, but similar writing blog that allowed me more organizational control over what I posted.
You can find it here:

I’ve actually been enjoying figuring out how WordPress works, especially with themes.
I’m actually extremely...
amourwolf asked: "I'm telling you, this city has legends. The Bat is one of them." Jones shook his head. "Neal, they're called URBAN LEGENDS for a reason!" Peter glanced over at the two of them. "Neal, leave Jones alone. Jones, the Bat is real." He took a sip of his coffee and watched their reactions out of the corner of his eye.
angel-gidget asked: She didn't understand how the civilian man was supposed to keep them safe. Mom was upset and Dick was fidgeting. And the man... he wouldn't look at her. Just wouldn't look at her. But there was something about him that *did* feel not right, but familiar. The hunch of his shoulders, the sadness in the set of his mouth. It reminded her a little bit of Batman in some ways. And just...

My Writing Blog on WordPress →
afewnovelideas:
With as wonky as Tumblr is being lately, I’ve broken down and started the WordPress version of my writing blog “Writings by C. R. Scott”.
It’s still pretty rough, and I’m still in the progress of migrating over my works to that site, but when it’s done I’ll be updating both my Tumblr and WordPress writing blogs simultaneously.

10 Things I'm Looking Forward to Writing for...
Though I know I’m not there yet, I’m really looking forward to writing about the adventures the DC!verse survivors will have in the other worlds of KH!verse.
Even though it’s not an official world in KH!verse, I want to send Dick and Damian to Pixie Hollow. I’ve got a great image in my head of Dick as a fast-flying fairy, though I don’t know what kind of fairy Dami...

Fan Fiction and Why it Matters
findingsherlock:
FS says: Fan fiction is one of those guilty pleasures of fandom that people pretend not to know about, or read, much less write. But its been done for ages from Hellenistic Greek Tragedy to the first of the Sherlock Holmes pastiches (did you know that Mark Twain wrote one?) to the latest BBC Sherlock crack-fic.
The quote below suggests that, fanfic is just a legal category,...

The Pen is Mightier than the Phone: A Case for... →
This article, I believe, has a great deal of insight regarding writing things via hand through pen and paper versus writing things down on electronic devices, like phones and computers.
It covers many of the same reasons why I prefer to write original drafts of stories and poems on a notebook rather than on my computer.
“We’re more likely to find an electronic device, open our...
